Clint Munoz worked at a large corporation that provided staffing to other companies. He was tired of the corporation’s hostile work environment, so he quit. Three days later, a vindictive corporate executive went to the police and fabricated a charge of theft, leading to Clint’s arrest and a felony charge. The prosecutor ultimately dismissed the unfounded case, and our team filed a lawsuit on Clint’s behalf against the corporation for damages to his life and career. A jury in Weld County District Court awarded Clint a record-setting 2.7 million dollars after finding the corporation guilty of malicious prosecution and defamation. Simply put, the jury punished the corporation for putting Clint through that hellish ordeal. The judgment was the largest verdict of its kind in the history of Colorado, and one of the largest verdicts in the United States stemming from a false allegation that lead to criminal prosecution.
