	ACQUITTAL IN ASSAULT TRIAL
	The president of a business was accused of felony assault of a police officer and domestic violence. He not only faced losing his business but, if convicted, a mandatory prison sentence. It was a bet-your-company, bet-your-life case that required a humanistic approach. Facts my team uncovered found that the incident began when a neighbor called the police to report that the man and his wife were having an argument. Police rushed in into the house thinking it was an emergency. My client fought back when the police attacked him. While picking a jury, we questioned potential jurors about their attitudes about testimony by police and about police conduct. In trial, we made jurors understand the human dimensions of this case. The jury acquitted. The husband and wife remain married to this day.
